What Are the Crystal Vision Awards?

The Crystal Vision Awards Program was established by National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Past National President Susan Levy in 1995. The program recognizes individuals who promote the role of women in construction through initiatives, policies or legislation. Two different awards are given under the Crystal Vision Awards: the Crystal Vision Award and the Crystal Achievement Award. The Crystal Vision Award recognizes a nonmember of NAWIC, and the Crystal Achievement Award recognizes a member of the Association. Since the first visionaries were selected in 1995, this one-of a-kind program has not only fulfilled its purpose of recognizing exemplary leaders in the industry, it has also developed a reputation for honoring individuals who are committed to building a diverse work force amidst the demanding backdrops of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Who is eligible to receive the Crystal Vision Awards?

The Crystal Vision Awards Program recognizes women and men for their outstanding achievements in advancing the role of women in the construction industry. Click on the "Criteria" button on the menu bar to get specific awards criteria.

How Do I Get involved?

It's easy! We know that you know some amazing men and women in the industry who are committed to enhancing the success of women in construction. If they are like most hard-working people, their efforts aren't recognized nearly enough. Once you have identified a worthy candidate, begin preparing your nomination. Study the required elements of the application, and begin collecting and organizing information in a way to make the best possible case for your nomination. The hardest part is choosing to make time to complete the application process.

When is the nomination deadline?

Nominations must be received in the NAWIC Office by March 18, 2010. Refer to the "Program Schedule" button on the menu bar for more information.

Who Judges the Crystal Vision Awards?

The Crystal Vision Award applications are evaluated and rated by three industry judges as selected by the NAWIC Office. The applications are scored on how well nominees match the awards criteria. The nominees in each category with the highest scores are selected as the award winners.

Why Do I have to send four copies of the application?

Four copies of the application are required because once received at the NAWIC Office, the applications are immediately forwarded to our three industry judges who are located throughout the country. A copy goes to each judge, and one copy stays at the NAWIC Office. It is important to take time to make sure all copies of the application are organized and presented neatly.

How will I know if my nominee is selected as a Crystal Vision Award winner?

Winners and their nominators will be notified via phone by April 21, 2010.

Where will the Awards be presented?

Winners will be recognized at the Association’s 55th Annual Meeting and Convention, Sept. 1-4, 2010, in Louisville, Ky.  Click on the "Awards Gala" menu button to learn more.
