The National Association of Women in Construction is embarking on a new series highlighting members that embody the spirit of NAWIC. Anyone can be the best person for the job in the construction industry – and our NAWIC members are here to prove it!
We believe all of our members bring something unique to the table, and we are thrilled to recognize those of you going above and beyond within our association.
Angela Robbins Taylor
Currently located: Houston, Texas
Job title: Executive Director (elect)
NAWIC Position title: I am currently the PR/Marketing Chair as well as past Regional Marketing Chair, Chapter Recording Secretary and Board Member.
I started in a classroom as a teacher and transitioned to corporate education, talent management and eventually workforce consultant supporting commercial construction. I serve as the executive director (elect) for Construction Career Collaborative, a non-profit focused on helping the Houston construction industry solve workforce problems from manpower, to skill development and career growth, to preparing new generations to join the industry.
3 years as a member and I was brought to the organization by others in the industry who felt I would fit well with the NAWIC mission.
Partnered with NAWIC Houston, C3 and I were able to host a women’s only career awareness expo that was completely hands-on and had over 1100 participants at our very first event. Without the strong women of our organization I would never have had the ability to pull off such a large-scale event.
Learning about different aspects of construction is great but what keeps me coming back is the strong friendship and mentorships I have developed.
Stay tuned for more NAWIC features, published monthly.
