The National Association of Women in Construction has formal partnering agreements with organizations throughout the United States. NAWIC’s future success requires working with and through other organizations to achieve our core purpose of enhancing the success of women in the construction industry.
ACE Mentor Program of America: This agreement seeks to improve career opportunities in the construction industry and to promote skill, integrity and responsibility within the industry.
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC): This partnership is one of working together to enhance the construction industry. ABC and NAWIC are interested in getting more skilled women into the industry. We can use their educational programs to help with this goal. We should work together to develop diversity training programs.
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC): The partnership seeks to improve communications, share our publications, improve career opportunities, promote skill, integrity and responsibility in the construction industry, to work on programs to positively enhance the image of the industry, promote joint meetings, use NAWIC as a source for women in the skilled trades and to jointly support programs and activities to help integrate women into the construction industry.
American Institute of Constructors (AIC): This partnership involves education and the need for NAWIC members to develop professional credentials as construction practitioners. It encourages women construction professionals to join NAWIC and AIC and to seek professional constructor certification, a certification provided by AIC.
American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA): This partnering agreement seeks to mutually promote women in construction and, particularly, to the road and transportation builders careers. Both associations agree to promote each other to help obtain new members. We also pledge to work within our chapters to create awareness for both associations.
American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE): In this agreement, both parties seek to work together to provide opportunities to our members for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and the advancement of common goals.
American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE): This partnership promotes our mutual concern of enhancing the role of women’s business enterprises and the profession of estimating in the construction industry as well as the business community as a whole. It provides and open and free exchange of experiences, resources and technical information to benefit members of both organizations.
American Subcontractors Association (ASA): The intent of this partnership is to work together to enhance both associations. We seek to work together to promote the construction industry and the role of women within the industry. We also seek to develop more women owned construction companies to create productive jobs and to improve our industry image among young people, educators, career counselors and parents in order to attract more youth to the construction industry.
Columbia Southern University: This partnership is designed to assist NAWIC members in achieving their educational goals in career appropriate disciplines. Benefits include 10% tuition discount, application fee waiver, textbooks at no cost, scholarship opportunities, and much more.
Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA): The agreement promotes CFMA and NAWIC and intends for the two associations to jointly support programs and activities which will have a significant impact on the successful integration of women into the construction industry. It is also to promote joint meetings of the two associations.
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI): This agreement intends for the two associations to work together to advance the technology and quality of building construction and management in the United States and to better serve the needs of members and customers.
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA): This partnering agreement is for both entities to achieve a partnership to mutually promote the role of women in the construction industry. We will both seek to stimulate an interest in construction careers among young people, educators, career counselors and parents in order to attract America’s youth to a career in construction. We will also work to increase the representation of women, minorities, and other disadvantaged groups in construction, including the development of women owned business enterprises to benefit the entire industry through creation of productive jobs.
FMI Corporation: This agreement intends for the two associations to cooperate in programs and activities that enhance the image of the construction industry. A continuing dialogue between the two groups will inform each other of beneficial activities.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI Women Build): The agreement is to promote our mutual concern of building and renovating houses with and for people in need of decent housing in decent communities through HFHI’s Women Build department. It is for our chapters and local Women Build programs to work together to build homes and to market each other’s programs.
International Code Council (ICC): In this agreement, we are both committed to mutually promoting the construction industry building safety and building safety professionals and the role of women in each.
National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER): This partnership gives our members greater opportunities to enhance their professional development by furthering their knowledge in the areas of craft training, management education, safety, industry research and improvement of industry image. It gives NAWIC members access to NCCER educational programs.
NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF): This partnership provides for the opportunity for NAWIC and NEF to work together to meet the educational needs of women in the construction industry. It also provides for NAWIC members working to support NEF financially and to further the awareness of the Foundation both within NAWIC and throughout the construction industry as a whole.
National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE): The Memorandum of Understanding was written for both entities to cooperate in a mutually beneficial manner to promote certification among engineering technicians and other non-licenses support personnel in the construction industry. We also agree to collaborate in endeavors that will build and enhance a relationship between the two organizations.
Paxton/Patterson Building Skills: This agreement intends to increase the opportunity for high-school students, with an extra focus on female students, to learn if their interests and aptitudes are well-suited for a career in construction.
Society of Design Administration (SDA): This agreement seeks to improve career opportunities and to promote skill, integrity and responsibility in the construction industry.
Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS): The objectives of the two associations include improving ethics in and the professional image of the construction industry. Together, we will support and provide continuing education for professionals in the construction industry and develop and market professional development materials and programs. We will also work together to encourage institutions of higher education to promote the profession of construction and help young professionals in the construction industry to recognize the value of joining and participating in their associations and professional societies.
The Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA): In this partnering agreement, we will work together to increase access to surety bonding by small, minority and women contractors. They would also like to increase awareness of, and participation in, the surety industry by highly motivated women already involved in some aspect of construction. This will also help with an increase in women owned business.
Troy University: The goal of this agreement is to expand access to high quality educational opportunities for learners, consistent with the missions and stated objectives of both organizations and to facilitate the continued professional development and education of NAWIC through the vast degree programs and learning formats available at TROY.
U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE): This partnership seeks to invest in the future by promoting education, research and development. It was formed to help women get into the Corps and to work together to enhance professionalism and integrity in the industry. We also work to improve communications and teamwork. They are also a NAWIC Sponsor.
U. S. Dept of Labor (DOL): This partnership is intended to advance the interests of women in construction and to foster the growth of women in all aspects of the construction industry. To work with all of the DOL agencies: Women’s Bureau, Employment and Training Administration, Employment Standards Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Office of Small Business and Minority Affairs.
U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA): The intent of this agreement is for our chapters to work with the SBA district offices to provide better opportunities and train women entrepreneurs. Overall, it is to help our members to start businesses and enhance them through SBA information, resources and workshops.
Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC): This partnership is basically the promotion of enhancing the role of women’s business enterprises in the construction industry as well as the business community as a whole. WBENC will help certify women business owners so they can more readily obtain work with federal, state and local governments.
Women Work! The National Network for Women’s Employment: The goal of this agreement is for NAWIC Chapters to work with Women Work! programs in their area to help bring underemployed/unemployed women into the construction industry. We will both promote careers for women in the construction industry and advance efforts to recruit and train women for high-wage, high-growth non-traditional occupations.
